RNCM James Mottram International Piano Competition

The competition, open to competitors from around the world, has two age categories:
Category A for pianists under 18 years of age (born after 30 November 1990)
Category B for pianists between the ages of 18 > 25 (born between 30 November 1982 and 29 November 1990)

The idea behind the competition is to develop the all-round learning experience for young pianists, mixing opportunities to perform on the concert platform with a rolling series of masterclasses, additional workshops and concerts given by international pianists. Each category culminates in a concerto final accompanied by the RNCM Symphony Orchestra with substantial prize money, performance opportunities and scholarship opportunities to study at the RNCM on offer.

The competition has a particular focus on the music of Domenico Scarlatti, Chopin and Debussy, composers particularly dear to the late James Mottram whose generous bequest we have used to set up this competition.
