North Bennet Street School North Bennet Street School offers two nine-month courses in Piano Technology.Curriculum:The nine month Piano Technology student will learn to tune, regulate, and repair the actions of both upright and grand pianos.Topics include: * Musical acoustics * Tuning procedures and practice * Temperaments * Piano maintenance * Upright and grand regulationThe nine-month Advanced Piano Technology course is devoted to comprehensive piano restoration.Topics include: * Appraisals and estimates * Pin block replacement * Veneer repairs * Refinishing * Soundboard repairs/replacement * Bridge capping * Rescaling * Action renovation, retrofitting, and replacement * Use of hand tools and woodworking machinery FacilitiesLike all programs of study taught at North Bennet Street School, piano technology is learned hands-on.
