I am aged 37 and have been teaching Piano, Guitar, Music Theory and Songwriting for many years now. I have successfully taught students of all ages from 12 years old to pension age. I grew up in a musical family where playing instruments together was a daily occurence and so I am pretty much a self-taught musician although I have studied both music theory and teaching techniques. I am presently working on a book describing my individual and intuitive approach to learning the piano.

I teach mostly in my locality of Welwyn/Hatfield, Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas. I offer friendly, expert tuition which is completely tailored to the individual student. My aim is to help each person develop in just the way they wish to. When teaching younger people I feel it is important to form a strong relationship with parents in order to best guide the young student toward the success they deserve. I always welcome input from parents and I am always very happy to spend time outside of lessons to go over progress, discuss ideas etc. Students/parents are also very welcome to telephone or email me at any time if my advice is required.

My style of teaching, whether it be Classical Piano, Rock Guitar or any style in between, is based upon proven techniques which work. Some teachers simply have a standard 'course' which they apply to every student. I prefer to construct a completely individual series of lessons designed to motivate, reward and satisfy the student whilst moving them toward their musical goals. I have studied postural therapies and apply what I have learned to my own teaching to show my students the easiest and most comfortable way to approach their instrument.

I teach mostly from our family home in the AL8 area of Welwyn Garden City but can do some home visits in the area.
