Darren Leaper MMus RNCM BMus (honours) LGSMD Rec. Cert. (honours) Darren graduated from the Birmingham Conservatoire in 2006 and was subsequently offered a place at the Royal Northern College of Music to study a Masters Degree with the Russian pedagogue Dina Parakhina. As well as performance, advanced pedagogy was a major focus in Darren's Masters portfolio.
As a performer Darren has recorded and performed live for BBC Radio 3, as well as performing in venues around the UK and internationally, including performances at the Birmingham Symphony Hall. In 2007 Darren was invited to perform a series of recitals across China, with the remarkable Chinese pianist Xi Xi. These concerts received high media acclaim and subsequent recital tours have been performed every summer since.
Darren has been working as both a private music teacher & tutor in schools for several years. Lessons are aimed to be constructive and enjoyable, with the teaching approach to each student considered individually. Darren's students have achieved exceptional results in performance and examinations. Those wishing to simply play for pleasure are welcome, with no pressure to enter exams.
Lessons are available on weekday evenings in Stratford upon Avon and Saturdays in Coventry. All abilities are welcome, from complete beginners to those preparing auditions for music colleges and universities. Those needing help for preparation for GCSE and A level performances are also welcome.
Fees are £15 per 30 minute lesson. (Longer lessons are available on request).
