Jacinta Patricia Holden

Gordon Scott BA in Music

A friendly, approachable piano teacher who believes that learning the instrument should be fun. Although I can take students through ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall examinations I tend to favour students who have an open and willing approach to experimenting and learning skills in a broad range of styles - from ballads to blues, classical to swing, pop piano through to preludes and fugues.

An open approach to teaching means that I am able to work with students with little or no experience of playing to date and also for those who want to learn cool piano pieces from the start. Although prior experience of reading music would be helpful it's not essential as we can learn this as we go along as well as learning some things by ear.

I've been teaching music in Gloucestershire for almost 20 years and have fairly limited availability. Give me a call or drop me an email in the first instance and we'll see how it goes.

I teach from the village of Uley at the glorious Prema Arts Centre - there's comfortable waiting rooms with the provision for tea & coffee making for parents who bring kids along for lessons.

Learning the piano should be excellent fun mingled with quite a lot of hard work. Before you start to learn, always remember that you will be doing most of the development work in your practice between lessons. Practice should be enjoyable and we can talk about ways that it can be made fun, challenging and to suit your lifestyle.

The lessons are generally 30 minutes long, during which we'll explore scales, arpeggios and studies, theory of music, look at styles of music, exercises for developing your technique and strength.
