Music4Kidz is a fun way for children to enjoy learning about music.
It was started in 2009 by Diane Mitchell, an experienced Primary Teacher with over 20 years of teaching experience, who has a keen interest in promoting music amongst children. Diane offers one to one piano lessons for all ages from age 6 upwards, including adults. All Associated Board Grades in piano and theory are catered for.
One to one guitar lessons are also offered.
Lessons cost £12 per half hour and are paid monthly in advance.

Beginner guitar groups more suitable for younger children are also offered . Cost is £10 per hour. Contact Diane for times.

Choir4Kidz meets on a Friday and is a fun singing group for Primary School age children. the children perform at local events and in the community.

Diane firmly believes that all children, regardless of musical ability, should be able to sing and enjoy music. She has had many years experience of teaching piano to children as young as 4 years old up and also to adults.
After introducing her own daughter who was 2 years old at the time, to a music class, Diane became a firm believer in introducing the basic concepts of beat, rhythm and pitch to children at an early age as possible and was inspired by the approach recommended by Kodaly. Having watched the progress of her own daughter and then organised some classes introducing children to these concepts, Diane found that the children involved had a much greater sense musicality when they began to play an instrument than those children who had not previously been exposed to music in such depth.
As a result, Diane introduced Music4Kidz classes for toddlers and preschoolers. The children have great fun with music, not realising that they are learning valuable musical skills at the same time. A typical Music4Kidz class lasts around 50 minutes and combines a wide variety of activities including singing and movement, percussion instruments, puppets etc….The children never get bored, but they are learning how to pitch notes, keep a steady beat and clap rhythms!
Diane also visits local nurseries to teach her programmes.

Music4Kidz is inspired by the belief that music can be fun for all children and that amongst other things, it promotes confidence, self-esteem, language development and other social skills.

As well as toddler and preschool classes, Diane is now offering a new “Music4Maestros” class to children of ages 5 years to 7years old. This will incorporate an introduction to music notation and symbols, teach children to read music, learn how to pitch notes, recorder tuition, introduction to piano/keyboard and guitar etc..
This takes place on a Saturday at 12 noon.
