Dr Charles Tebbs BA Hons, M.Mus, PhD

Pianist, composer and musicologist Dr Charles Tebbs offers lessons in piano, music theory and composition, covering all ages, abilities and grades, including diplomas and jazz grades. I am based in Calverton, Nottinghamshire. My piano playing is featured on TV and radio worldwide, and most recently I have added piano on tracks by Zoe Johnston from Faithless. I have taught and lectured on many aspects of Western music and performance-related topics at leading UK universities, including Nottingham, Lancaster, Cambridge, and King’s College, London. In addition I have a wealth of experience teaching young people, and have run summer schools in improvisation and music technology, the latter rated excellent by OFSTED. Please watch this space for details of my forthcoming website featuring recordings and information, and in the meantime visit my page at the piano forums (see below). I am also organist and choirmaster at St Helen's church, Burton Joyce. I also play piano-accordion, harpsichord, and most instruments of the Indonesian gamelan!

Awesome Accompanist

Charles has been my accompanist for my last three music exams up to my Grade VIII saxophone. Exams are very stressful so it was always reassuring to know that there was a safe pair of hands on the piano. Charles’ ability to cover up any of my...

Piano Lessons with Charles Tebbs

I am writing this review for Charles Tebbs as a mature student of his. I have progressed further on the piano during the last year, with Charles' guidance, than I ever have done. He is extremely knowledgable and has an excellent way of...

Fantastic Musician/Teacher

We have known Charles for just over a year now, taking my Son (age 10) from a reasonably competent Grade IV to an exceptional Grade V (passed Winter 2009). Charles has provided much articulation, wider repetoire and much broader outlook and...

An enthusiastic, incredibly knowledgeable teacher.

During the relatively short period learning with Charles (about 6 months) we got through more material, both in length and difficulty, than i could have hoped for. As a post-grade 8 student, i'm glad to find a teacher that could push me well...
