Playing the piano should be about enjoyment & having fun. All too often that enthusiasm is quashed by constantly pushing the pupil from one exam to another with all the associated stress. Furthermore all too often pupils are pressed into playing the style of music their piano teacher enjoys which needless to say may not exactly be their first choice! It is hardly surprising therefore that many people, children & adults alike, give up after maybe only a few years.

My teaching aims to put the fun back into playing the piano! Play simply for pleasure or progress through ABRSM Grades. Every pupil is treated as an individual, you play exactly what you want to learn to play.

Creating & maintaining enthusiasm, developing an appreciation of the music & playing with expression, interpretation & flair is the hallmark of my teaching.

Children (from age 7 years) & adults from any standard to Grade 6 are most welcome. I teach any genre in a friendly, relaxed environment.

A particular emphasis of my teaching regards interpretation of the piece. Music is not merely "black notes on a page", it is a story to be told & pupils are encouraged to be creative and personally expressive throughout the pieces they are playing. I believe that through carefully nurturing this more creative side, pupils gain a much deeper musical appreciation.
