Ruth Gardner is a professional accompanist and piano teacher living in Newbury, Berkshire. Ruth runs Semplice School of Private Piano Studies and enjoys teaching students of all ages and abilities from young people to adults. She teaches classical piano, jazz and popular music and is also experienced in teaching music theory. Ruth has taught students up to Diploma standard and tries to balance her lessons so they are educational and fun at the same time.
Ruth studied Music at Clare College, Cambridge University (1995-98) where she was awarded a scholarship. Ruth then went on to study post-graduate at the RNCM for two years. Whilst she was there she was awarded the Allcard Award 2000, the Clifton Helliwell Prize for piano and the Stella Bradshaw Award for Accompaniment. Ruth graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2001 achieving their highest award in Piano Accompaniment PPRNCM(Distinction). Ruth has worked for the RNCM as an freelance accompanist and has also worked for NYO, BBC Philharmonic, European Opera Centre, Northern Ballet School, Swansea City Opera amongst others. Ruth has performed in recitals with members of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and the Halle Orchestra and locally with Chorlton Arts Festival. Ruth has performed aboard Swan Hellenic Cruises and QE2 and recently recorded her first CD "Gardens in the Rain".
