Lessons include preparation for exams as and when appropriate, and if desired by pupils. I have also created a system of Early Stage, pre-grade 1 exams, at the levels of Bronze, Silver and Gold. Certificates and medals are awarded to successful pupils. These exams encourage motivation and progress during the early phase of learning an instrument, to help bridge the gap before Grade 1 is reached.

Recordings of pupils' pieces are made regularly along their journey, and CDs of their performances provided.
Custom made Practice books are available, specially designed for the efficient recording of tasks to be practiced, amounts of practice done, and with progress charted along the way. These aid pupils in the taking of responsibility for their own learning.

Pupils have the option of enrolling in weekly Performance classes, and attending Performance workshops. These provide a safe space for pupils to experiment with performing ideas and strategies, and are, above all, designed to boost their confidence and self-esteem.

My experience of bringing up two teenage girls, and of general class teaching in Primary and Middle schools, as well as that of running the music departments in schools for ten years, has lead me to have a keen interest in the personal development of my pupils. I have extended my training and teaching experience into the fields of NLP, coaching and self-development, and I have a passionate interest in the aspects of self-esteem and empowerment in all people. This is reflected in the way I teach my pupils, whether children, teenagers or adults.

I have taught children of all ages, from music classes for Mums and babies, through to retired adults. Also all levels, from the very beginning stages through to Diploma standard. My musical training incorporates Teacher Training college and University at Cambridge, private tuition for Diplomas and intensive training by Yamaha to teach in their music schools.
