Matthew Jones read Music at the University of Durham, where he was awarded the Wallis Organ Scholarship at St. John’s College in 1997. He studied organ under Alan Hindle in Nottingham, and subsequently, under Keith Wright, Sub-Organist at Durham Cathedral. On conclusion of his undergraduate studies, he remained in Durham to complete a postgraduate certificate in education.
Having spent ten successful years as a Director of Music and College Organist in independent education, Matthew is now pursuing a career as a freelance organist, accompanist, music teacher and musical director. As an active composer, his works include choral and orchestral music, as well as scores for dramatic productions.
Matthew is Director of Music at the parish church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Syston, Musical Director of The Chanterelders Choir in Leicester, and Principal Accompanist for Peterborough Voices.
