Learn to play the piano with a conservatoire trained, London-based pianist, who has studied at the internationally renowned Liszt Academy, Hungary, and who holds a doctorate in music. I participated with distinction in the Vienna Masterclasses, and was judged best pianist at the Jamey Aebersold Jazz School, London.
I teach both classical and jazz piano, and have had students in Britain, Ireland, France and Hungary, from beginner to diploma level and from young children to pensioners. I am happy to give refresher lessons to adults who last studied piano in childhood. Students requesting jazz instruction will be given additional training in improvisation, reading from chord/lead sheets and playing by ear.
I have lectured and tutored in music at universities including Cambridge, and have published widely on musical subjects, so I will be happy to supplement your lessons with background information on music theory and history as required.
You will find my manner friendly, patient and encouraging whatever your level. I will travel to addresses in Hampstead, Belsize, Swiss Cottage, West Hampstead, South Hampstead, Highgate, and St Johns Wood and may consider other North London addresses in the vicinity of Jubilee, Metropolitan, Northern, Thameslink and Silverlink stations.
I charge from £30 to £40 per hour depending on travel expenses and level, with reductions possible for consecutive hours/lessons at the same address. A series of six lessons can be pre-paid in advance at reduced cost.
