We teach piano lessons in an informal and relaxed atmosphere from our home, to all ages and abilities. We try to make our lessons fun. Some pupils like to take exams and some just come for pleasure. We hold London College of Music exams at home as well as offering the Associated Board syllabus (both jazz and classical). One of our main successes is that we try to encourage our pupils to play what the music they are most interested in. If printed music is not available, then we will transcribe it from a CD or some other format. If necessary, we will teach selected pieces by rote (without the use of written music). This is particularly helpful in the case of pupils who are dyslexic, have some kind of resistance to reading music or who are visually impaired.
We enjoy and encourage teaching all the necessary background skills such as music theory, sight reading and aural training when necessary, or when the pupil feels ready.
