Danny Kuperberg

Andrew Johnston - Pianist BMUS, MMUS, ATCL, AMusTCL

I have 15 years teaching and performing experience in the UK and abroad, including preparing students for under and post-graduate music college courses and teaching at the University of Edinburgh. I have performed in Russia, Ukraine, Latvia and the UK, including many concerto performances, and have also given masterclasses in Latvia. I am currently a member of the European Piano Teachers Association (EPTA), and teach at Stewart's Melville and Mary Erskine schools in Edinburgh. I also maintain a small private teaching practise, alongside my performing activities.

I am primarily a classically trained pianist and teacher, although I also have a deep interest in Jazz and other piano styles. I have an Mmus degree in Musicology from the University of Edinburgh, and am comfortable teaching advanced theory and harmony in my lessons too. My students have been consistent prize winners in the Edinburgh Festival of Music Speech and Dance and the Oban Festival, although the most important thing to me as a teacher is that my students feel that they are achieving their goals, learning efficiently and enjoying whatever repertoire and development path they are working on. I also teach a small number of mature students, from complete beginner to a Professor of Mathematics who is learning the complete cycle of Bach Preludes and Fugues!

Call or email me to discuss requirements, (although spaces may be limited!)
