Steve is a piano/keyboard player from Liverpool, now living in Dunfermline, Scotland.
He has been playing keys since the age of 15 and professionally since the age of 18, and spent six years studying at Sandown College of Music and Performing Arts, Liverpool where he attained both A level music and his diploma. Steve plays Classical, Jazz, Blues and Rock'n'Roll with no particular speciality. He also composes in many styles, from the Classics to Pop, via Jazz. He writes songs too and has helped many students pen their own songs! Steve has worked with many artists and bands during his career, some famous and some infamous! He spent ten years in an original band called 'Spare Rib' who never had any major success, although they did play to five thousand people in Liverpool supporting Atomic Kitten at the Summer Pops. Spare Rib just missed out on a record-deal with the 'Kitten's' managment, and they turned down Duffy as their singer, before she made it...OUCH!
Steve has also played with Mel Gaynor (Simple Minds), Jennifer John, Ray Quinn (X Factor), Lonnie Donnegan, Nicky Bell (vocals on 'Horny'), John Wheatcroft (Guitar techniques mag), Bongo Eddie (Kid Creol and the coconuts), Peter Gabriel's support band and most recently was working with Liverpool vocalist Thomas Lang. He was asked to play keyboards for the amazing Echo & The Bunnymen, but turned them down!
Steve recorded for EMI last year on an album entitled 'The Liverpool Number One Project', and has also written music for radio. Steve teaches privately and has had many students attain a high level of qualifications over the past fifteen years in both practical, and theoretical music. He is a registered tutor with the London College of Music and has a full enhanced disclosure from Fife council. Steve has just completed his third collection of instrumental music. The collection is entitled 'Caught in your soul' (www.myspace.com/caughtinyoursoul) and he will be working on a publishing deal soon.
