I have over 30 years experience in teaching piano and music theory from beginner to advanced levels. Pupils prepared for ABRSM examinations. I teach in the Glenkens area and I can travel to you. I have a gentle, patient and enthusiastic method of teaching which has resulted in many successes. I am very happy to teach complete beginners and adults. I encourage expressive playing, composition, playing from memory as well as reading music. I encourage exploration of all styles from classical to jazz and pop. I offer lots of advice for dealing with nerves and I also encourage children to take exams, never leaving them to play the same pieces for ages when boredom inevitably sets in. Most of my pupils take one exam per year and some have passed two in a year! Other styles and pieces are introduced in-between exam pieces. I want my pupils to love music and to learn to express themselves for their own personal development and satisfaction through learning to play.
