Andy has been teaching both piano and keyboards for nearly 20 years and has played in many band covering many styles of music. He is currently in one of the UKs leading Pink Floyd tribute bands, but is also in various other bands, incl jazz and blues acts. Andy does not follow an academic examination format, as he focuses on getting students to where they want to go, without being tied down to a set syllabus. He focuses on modern styles of music, rather than classical, and also includes improvisation techniques and jazz and blues theory in his programme. Andy does cover the normal music-reading skills and traditional theory and notation. However, in addition, he also includes understanding chords and chord-based improvisation, a lot of modern music being written in this format. Andy likes to make the lessons FUN, flexible and interactive. Lessons take place in the comfort and security of the students own home. Minimum age eight years. No upper age limit.
