Caroline Tyler, Concert Pianist and Teacher

*Learn Piano!* B.Ed Music (Hons), M.A. Ed (Distinction)

I am an Honours music graduate, an experienced musician and qualified primary teacher, with 16 years experience. This means that I am CRB checked and am a registered teacher with the General Teaching Council. I am also registered with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

During my Masters degree I specialised in educational research and developing new ways for children to access the curriculum through music. This has involved using music to develop social and communication skills in children with EBD (emotional behavioural difficulties) and research into the effect of auditory and visual processing deficits on literacy skills. I have shared the outcomes of my professional development with other professionals and have given a talk on the key aspects of main competing theories of dyslexia to M.A. students and Music Subject Leaders at the WSCC conference ;Sounding Out The Future. I have also presented my findings at an international workshop for musicians, linguists and neuroscientists at RPPW Tatihou France. I have previously presented information on how children learn music at a conference on auditory perception with a group of Year 4 children at IRCAM in Paris (a French national research centre).

The cost of piano or keyboard lessons is £12.50 per half hour, £25 for an hour. At the beginning stage, pupils generally attend 1/2 hr sessions. Lesson rates do not include music books.
Please note that lessons missed or cancelled without 24 hours notice incur a 100% cancellation fee.

NB Private educational tutoring is available for pupils with dyslexia (£30 per hour).
