Alexander is passionate about teaching and is on the piano staff at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and is a lecturer at the University of Birmingham.

ALEXANDER BOYD
Born in 1972 Alexander is regarded as one of Australia's leading pianists, with a busy
career as both soloist and chamber musician. Since making his concerto debut in 1983
performing Mozart's 1st Piano Concerto with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra
conducted by Yerzy Maksimiuk, Alexander has performed at many of the major concert
halls of the world, and recorded on numerous occasions for ABC Radio and BBC Radio
and Television. He has also appeared at many international festivals such as Aldeburgh,
Banff (Canada), Montepulciano (Italy), Tanglewood (USA) and Yale (USA).
In recent years Alexander has given recitals in England, Ireland, Scotland, Belgium,
New Zealand, Australia and the USA. In 2009/10 he toured Australia with his brother,
cellist Nathaniel Boyd and the Navarra String Quartet, appearing at the prestigous
Huntingdon Festival and other venues throughout the country in partnership with Musica Viva
and ABC Radio.
2010/11 brings further performances throughout the UK including the Conway Hall, Wigmore
Hall, Purcell Room and St Johns Smith Sq in London, and the Barber Series in Birmingham
amongst others. He will also be returning to Australia for a nationwide series of concerts in early
2012.
Alexander studied studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Paul Berkowitz and
James Gibb and after graduating with distinction in 1995 continued his studies in Israel with
Alexander Volkov and Pnina Salzman. He has also worked with many other musicians such as
Stephen Kovacevich, Murray Perahia, Claude Frank and Menahem Pressler.
