Anyone been to any lately? Or is thinking of going to any. I have been to two of the Proms concerts this year, I have never been to the Proms before so it was really cool, I will definitely be going again next year!

I went to Prom 32 the ‘piano day’ one, it was really cool, saw the Labeque sisters play Mozart concerto for 2 pianos K365, and I really enjoyed Saint-Saens Carnival of the animals.

Last Monday I went to Cadogan hall to hear some Chopin mazurkas, Mendelssohn’s Songs without words and Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring. I wasn’t so sure about having to hear the Stravinsky piece but I did enjoy it. I didn’t like it at first as I heard it on a documentary with Ashkenazy and Barenboim playing it, but it’s really cool, but is very hard core piano, some people cound handle it an walked out of the preformance. :(

Then I went to one near me yesterday, a really nice concert of piano duets.

I have all really booked tickets to see Maurizio Pollini and Kristian Zimmerman play Chopin next year at the Southbank Centre as its Chopin’s 200th birthday, can’t wait for that! I think I’m going to become a bit of a pianist twitcher!

A few months back I went to see a Ballet concert with my sister. It was very beautiful. I regret not continuing with my ballet lessons as sometimes I get this desire to become a ballerina :-)

Wow someone actually decided to post details of a concert they went to! :D I thought this topic was a goner! Great I can now post details of the two I went to recently.

Oh I saw two piano playing heavy weights these past 2 weeks! Saw Kristian Zimmerman and Maurizio Pollini play at the SouthBank, as it was Chopin’s 200th birthday. Zimmerman played Chopin’s Sonatas, ha-ha not sure what ones though, was cool anyway. Is it normal to stamp your feet when pedalling? That’s the first time I have seen that in a performance :? .

Pollini played the 24 preludes, ballade 1, 2 nocturnes and some etudes. And he did 3 encores! Bravisimo! Old guy, I’ll be seeing you in 2011 and there was no feat stamping...

And nextweek I have my teachers concert to go to, it will top the SouthBank’s ones no doubt! 8)

btw Welcome to the piano page Abi! :)
