George Rogers & Sons date please

Post by Gillxy23 » 16 Jul 2018, 11:17

Hi, I've received an old upright George Rogers & Sons serial number 24345 and wondered about the manufacture date. It has a handwritten note attached noting it was selected for someone (looks like William..) by Charles Vincent. Many thanks.

Posting it under two separate headings creates a lot of confusion, so please stick to replying on this one so we can help you. The number suggests that it was made in 1910, but my Numbers page

explains that dating pianos purely on the basis of numbers is often not as simple as it seems. If you want to search inside the piano for clues, have a look at

Are you able to post photos here to show us what the whole piano looks like?

I will look up Charles Vincent, any idea what part of the country it would be? Or what country? Dealers sometimes called themselves "selectors", implying that they selected the perfect piano for an individual client. Again, photos of the label would be useful.

Charles J. Vincent was based in Sunderland, does that seem likely?
