Summer holiday plans?

Last week I booked my flight to Florida! I leave at the end of June and fly into Fort Lauderdale then travel up to Kissimmee where I shall be soothed by my timeshare villa and its amenities, not to mention all the attractions at Disney and Universal!

Can't wait - it's the proverbial carrot at the end of school year finish line!

We looked at a stay and cruise in Florida very nice and very cheep, but I am sick of US immigration when you cruise from Fort Lauderdale 4 hours last time So we are sailing from Southampton to Spain, Portugal and Canaries no plane or luggage restrictions trying a different cruise liner this time Royal Caribbean . Will I be taking the laptops Hmm that depends if the wife take hers

No holiday this year. Had a holiday from Hell, the sort of thing that is sensationalised negatively on that programme on ITV, for four days in early April and I'm still awaiting a reply from my official complaint.

Though a nice day trip up to Liverpool to see Kari Anne would be do-able.

Not to go into too much detail about the holiday it was just a four day break at an adults only holiday centre in the South West. We were the youngest people there by a good 40 years, all bloody bingo, ballroom dancing and washed up 'comedians' with northern accents spouting racism and homophobia, and then laughing at their own jokes. As soon as we boarded the coach we wanted to go back home, and what hurt most was the fact it was our first holiday since our honeymoon in 2005 and we had been saving for ages for it. As for the 'holiday village' itself, I filled an entire sheet of A4 with complaints about that!

Does anyone else feel guilty about flying yet? You know because of the dirty jet fuel. It wouldn't stop me flying just yet but I can feel the guilt creeping up when I think about flying.

That even worse if its your first hol in a wile as your expectations are ruining high Keep at them it pays off in the end will take a year or so We had one very bad one we got 50% back in the end but it was hard work

You can complain about the poor quality of the entertainment but their response will be others found the comedians very funny ! and if they were in there 70 80s then some will have enjoyed it. Helps if you have other guest who were not happy and you have their address and they complain. As to the age bit unless they advertised it as an 18 to 30 or may be young family, that will be classed as discriminative on your part.

As to bingo that is one thing that makes me cringe

The whole ethos Barrie is the wording of the advertising. Was advertised as 'adults only' but should have been advertised as 'a holiday for the young at heart', 'with senior citizens in mind' or maybe a 'pensioners' special' which would have not have fooled adults between the ages of eighteen and fifty. Okay, both my wife and I will be oldies one day soon, and it would be very generalistic of me to put all OAPs in the bingo/ballroom dancing/Radio 2/British Legion etc. category. However, the massive we shared a holiday with were what may be referred in the USA as 'rednecks' who had spent the majority of their working lives in dirty little factories and as such their brains had been moulded accordingly. We agreed whilst we were there that both my father in law (who sadly passed away at age 84 in January) and my mother in law who has Alzheimers would have hated the experience, and maybe George would have given us both £400 so we could have booked four nights in a cosy B&B and booked the travel arrangements online, as well as eating out in Indian or Italian restaurants in the evening.

Ah yes, the food. Tasted like...I feel a hyperbole coming on.

The company name doesn't begin with "W", does it? Had a similar experience a few years ago. If you didn't shovel down your dinner in record time and rushed into the bar/dance hall in time for the bingo, you couldn't find a seat anywhere for the rest of the night. It's amazing how fast these 'more mature' ladies could polish off their dinner and run to their seats.

No athomik, it does not begin with a W (I think I know what company you mean tho) and UKPP etiquette does not extend to libel so I cannot name the companies involved (in fact there were two, the owners of the holiday village and the locally based coach company that organised and advertised the trip). I certainly wouldn't want to feel Markymarks' steel toecapped boot on my pristine little buttocks now he's 'back in green'!

The one good thing was a little carvery pub about a mile away which we had to go in so we could at least get a decent meal after what we got at camp, and a nice cool pint of beer away from the oldest chavs in town. We expected fresh hearty meat and vegetables from one of the UK's best food producing regions, we got bloody Brake Brothers and hardly any of it.

I actually LOST 2kg/4.5lbs weight on that holiday, proves just how bad it was.

More like a stone and I hope you like walking as you walk miles on a ship and even more so when you dock . if its a big ship 3500 guest + takes about 2 days to find your way round it all.
