THE DAVE 'N' MARIUS PIANO SHOW

Post by Marius »

Hey. Im a 17 years old boy from Norway. I play drums and piano.

My problem is to play whit 2 hands at the same time. Because when i try to play boogie and blues, its just a mess. But other songs is ok.

Is it someone who have any advice to play whit both hands?

And if someone knows about some boogie lessons on DVD, just post it :) I think that would help me, whit riffs and stuff like that.

Thanks

- Marius

Hello Marius!

your dog is sooooo cute! I love rottweilers, I have a border terrier, a cat and a budgie...

Unfortunately I can't really help you with anything about boogie stuff, as I am more into playing classical music.

nice to meet you! :)

dave brum wrote:Marius DO NOT worry about being good or as good as me! I am not a teacher I won't pick faults with your playing, just appreciate the fact that you have recorded yourself and you are sharing your playing with me, hey!!

Let me tell you something Marius as you're my friend. I used to have a MASSIVE problem with my confidence when I'm playing, sometimes (and I still do in front of my teacher) I get a strange feeling like I've never touched a piano ever in my life and I would feel like that when I knew I was recording myself playing. Going to piano lessons has really helped me with this, Marius!

I am 38 and you are only 17. Just think what a GREAT :piano; pianist you'll be when you are 38! Or even in twelve months from now you've got to just keep learning!!!

GO MARIUS!!
Yeah, you`re right Dave. I got to practise a lot, and get the 2 hands play together.

Hope i can play on a pub/bar someday :) That would be fun!

Their advertisement seems pretty good.. Is it expensive?
In my experience, these video advertisements seem to showcase the best parts and you are left feeling slightly disappointed.

Still... if you have little or limited knowledge of boogie woogie, then it may be okay. Just bear in mind that blues is the core for all those style you are talking about: jazz, boogie woogie, southern gospel, urban gospel, funk. When you start into these things, you will need to cover the blue scales as the foundation for boogie woogie anyway so don't be too close-minded to looking into blues.

Ok Mark. So the blues scale is important, when you play boogie.

As for the blues scale question: ABSOLUTELY!

If you were to play C - Eb - F - Gb - G - Bb - C just simply on the piano, you'd hear that familiar sound that all those music styles have! That's because they are all based on the blues scale. They do have their own slant on the scale and how they use them, but this is at the core of them all.

There are loads and loads of TV channels in the UK, lots of different 'platforms' (ways of receiving them) and some channels you have to pay a subscription for and some are free to air. The main TV channels in the UK are BBC1, BBC2 and commercial ITV1, Channel 4 and five. If you watch digital TV, and most people in the UK do now, you can also get extra channels from the BBC like BBC3, BBC4, two childrens channels and a 24 hour news channel, all from the BBC - and then you can also get free extra ITV channels ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4, Sky News, and some other extra channels.

The channels you pay for are like Sky channels, UKTV channels, Discovery, Living etc. all the specialist stuff - and if you want to pay an absolute fortune you can watch all the British football matches that are on Sky Sports or watch good movies!

Okey. You most pay for some tv channels here also..Film and football 24/7! But we have: Nrk1, Nrk2, TV2, TV3, TV Norge(tv norway), Eurosport, Discovery, Fox Kids..etc!

I like to watch Discovery! Much fun! :)

But I think there's too much TV in the UK anyway! I would rather be doing something else than watching TV, Marius - like socialising with my friends!!

What is Norwegian TV like, Marius?

There is a very good free channel on digital satellite called Channel M, it is local TV for the Manchester area and they have a music show on there late at night hosted by Clint Boon (keyboard player with the Inspiral Carpets - old Manchester band from the 1990s)

It is really warm here in this part of the UK. What is the weather like in Norge, Marius?
Its ok weather here in Norway. In some countries here, its raining a lot, but i dont live in that part.

In this autumn season, it is about 10-15 Celcius in the afternoon. And 0-5 celcius in the night/evening! In winter time, we get a lot of snow, some parts get 3 meters ! :o But here i live its around 1,5-2 meters! I like winter :D

Birmingham is the next biggest city in the UK after London. It is home to many different cultures faiths and races and there is always lots and lots of things to do there.
