Roland FP-8 on last legs?

Post by alandav123 »

Hi all, my elderly FP-8 roland digital piano is getting a bit past it.

Some keys stopped playing and I managed to open and clean them up and sorted the problems, but now some are sounding at maximun volume which completely ruins anything you play.

Its had a hard life and been gigged for years and even the key mechanisums are really rattely and noisey.
Is there anything I could spray between all the contacts to make it last a bit longer?

Its been with me so long I am a buit attached to it as it "talks" really well to my Roland RA-800 arranger so it will be hard to get yet another new bit of gear but maybe its unavoidable.

If its beyond help, I will have to source another 88 note weighted stage piano ASAP.

Regards Alan

Has your keyboard been serviced lately?

When keyboards go over the 10 year period, the velocity sensors which measure the speed of the key depression and which tell the keyboard how loudly to sound can start to play up. Have you ever had the velocity sensors replaced? Usually when one key needs done, they all eventually start to go. Replacing the whole keyboard sensors is not expensive but will need an engineer of some sort to do it.
