Hotel Room Practice

Post by Alan Brown »

Hi,
I want to learn to play Piano/Keyboard, but the nature of my job means that I spend a lot of time away in hotels, can anyone tell me if the roll up pianos are any good? if not can anyone recommend a small keyboard that will fit into a suitcase, it cant be more than 2ft long though.

Thanks Alan

Never tried a roll up myself, but there was a discussion about them on the american Pianoworld forum. I don't think anyone was hugely impressed!
Small keyboards have smaller keys, which will confuse your kinetic memory (the way it feels). Might not sound important, but if you consider how you tie your shoelaces without looking (or thinking) because you 'know' how it feels, imagine what'd happen if you tied your laces...and they were ropes, or bit of cotton!
