Yamaha YU1

Post by Enda »

I am about to start learning the piano and have seen a Yamaha YU1 built about 1998 for sale. I was wondering if anyone could give me more details on this piano and whether it is different from the U1. It sounds pretty good. :?

AFAIK, the designation "YU" is used for standard U series pianos in some European markets. There should be little difference, and may even be closer to our UK spec models than the usual Japanese grey imports. In the Netherlands for example, U1s are often referred to as YU1s

There was also a rare UK model called the YUK1, quickly renamed the YK101 which is much smaller, so make sure it's not one of those!

Where has the dealer got it from?

Is the YUS1 "new" or another variant?

"Hand finished" rather than the full blown hand made SU range. Yes, in effect another variant on the U1 theme.
