This look like a good deal?

Post by ronstig »

Hi,

Looking for a 70's/80's U3 and I found this here: https://www.gumtree.com/p/pianos/yamaha ... 1175133667

Now, for £1800 it seems too good to be true, but from the pictures it seems okay. Just wanted some opinions on whether it looks alright to buy or not.

Thanks,
Ron.

Ron,
Go for it.... take their hand off if it sounds & plays well.
Pictures are just cosmetic, and don't mean a thing/ tune..touch/ tone/ sound/ see warranty/ tuning invoices etc
Probably played little if elderly..... but get it checked if in a rest home/ very warm room - wrest plank issues?
Reason I say this is in the reflection!

Give them a ring and ask to play it.... might be out of tune, but so what.
If HORRENDOUSLY out of tune.... get it checked by a piano tuner (worth the call-out).

Who says it's 70s/ 80s ?? .... price when new is about these days, not then.
To confirm the age, ask for the serial number (see below as an example)

I agree with Colin here, it looks like a great deal, AND I see the price has been reduced to 1500 pounds. Don't loose a second more in checking that one out.
And please let us know how you get on.
I was playing the piano in a zoo, when the elephant burst into tears. I said, "Don't you recognize the tune?" He replied, "No, I recognize the ivories!"
