John Spencer upright piano

Postby vonny » 22 Feb 2012, 22:07

I have a John Spencer iron framed upright piano. The number inside the top lid is 67300. Could you help me find out what date it was made please?

Is that set of numbers punched into the wood - on the top edge of the underside of the top lid, facing the ceiling?.... if so, this is not the serial number. I dont think Spencer pianos were that reliable with their numbering of piano.

Would be better if you sent a couple of photos of your piano - one with it complete, and the other with the front panel completely removed. See the recent "Rubinstein/ Yamaha" post for ideas.

For instructions how to send photos, see first post on "Piano Advice".
Photos nice and clear - sent in JPG.

The number suggests that it was made in 1916, right in the middle of the war, and dates are fairly reliable around that time, it's the earlier ones that don't work out.
