Kirchner

There were two firms called Kirchner: I have little or no information on the american one, and I've only come across one of the Berlin pianos in 42 years, that was in New Zealand. They are not listed among the Berlin makers, and I can only guess that it was an alias: See

If you know how to remove the action (the working parts of the notes) safely it may have the action makers' name and number on the rear, and we may be able to date the piano.

We are definitely still around, although the original post that I was answering seems to have disappeared. There are quite a few Kirchner pianos around, mostly in New Zealand, but I don't believe it is a real maker's name. My Names page
http://www.pianohistory.info/names.html
explains that fake German names were often applied to genuinely German pianos exported to South Africa, New Zealand and Australia. There was also...
