Carl Ecke piano 1898

hello!
i just recieved a beatifull Carl Ecke from 1898 according to the stamp and i would like to know a bit more!
and this forum popped up!

so anything helps!

You would have to explain what you mean by the "stamp". If you mean that a number is imprinted somewhere, we need to know whether this is the serial number, case number, action number, key number etc..

If the year 1898 is stamped somewhere, this will almost certainly NOT be the year of manufacture.

the piano is 3 doors down the road and will come to my house in a week and than i can make a foto of the number and date. i do have a picture of the piano thoug how do i upload?

Hey the piano arrived!! i have a serial number and a date!
the serial number is:147711
1896 and an autograph underneath
so putting a date on it was relativly easy now getting more info about carl ecke pianos!!
i dont get it at all with the freakin attachments i cant press a button and select my image?

Sorry, I don't follow the last sentence, what image, where? 1895 should be the date of that number, according to the published information, but a year's error is not at all uncommon. In what way is the 1896 written. is it part of some text or pictures?

it took me over an hour before i scrolled down a bit and saw upload attachment....... i just couldn't figure out how to upload a picture.... :? and now i found out there is a max of 2 mb my pictures are 3.2 mb so.....

There are instructions right at the top of the forum. Thanks for the photos. It certainly looks like an 1896 style to me. Compare the German uprights of the 1890s at

The first rule is to ignore anything handwritten, especially if it is done with a biro. It may be the correct year, but it is not original. If your tuner feels it is safe to remove the action, it may be marked on the rear with the action makers' name and number, and I may be able to date this.
