Bentley Upright Piano - Age? Help

Post by BentleyBlair »

Hello,

I have an upright Bentley piano. I wanted to know how old it is but I am not having much luck. The serial number is 828501. Would anybody be able to give me a rough idea?

Many thanks

On my Numbers page
http://www.pianohistory.info/numbers.html

there are a few dates for modern Bentleys, such as 1980 Bentley #146,300 but the problem is that dating pianos purely on the basis of numbers is not as easy as it sounds, partly because most pianos have several numbers inside. I doubt if 828501 is the serial number. Can you post photos here to show what the whole piano looks like, or email them to me to post?

It may also be useful to see how and where the number is written. If you want to search for clues inside the piano, have a look at

I would have thought this was something like 1975, the number is painted very badly, and I wonder if it could be 128501 - 1973? Your best bet is to follow the link I gave you for datemarks on keys.

looks like a Bentley 85 C model to me,
Our mission in life is to tune customers--not pianos.

Any fool can make a piano-- it needs a tuner to put the music in it
