I have a very old piano and know nothing about it - I'd be very grateful for any info!

Birt was the retailer, based in Woolwich. The patent number has a suffix 94, which suggests that the patent was registered in 1894. The piano would have been made after the patent, and if you have a look at my Edwardian page at
http://www.pianohistory.info/

You will see that this is typical of that era. If you open the top, you should be able to see some numbers, and these may tell me how old the piano is exactly. The action appears to have been imported from Germany, so it is probably before the 1914 war.
