J. Becker grand SN 22785 ??

Post by Evelyn »

I have just acquired a family heirloom piano, and would appreciate any information about it. It is a J. Becker piano with serial number 22785. Thanks so much. Evelyn

Thanks for the photos, it shows that the name is actually Becker, not Beckmann, so I have altered your posting. I imagine this was Jacob Becker of St.Petersburg, (rather than the American one) I have no serial number dates that would apply to this number, but a piano with a very similar number was estimated at 1868. I would have guessed yours was much later, perhaps into the 1900s.

Is it possible to give us a more general view of the whole piano?

It seems that the estimate 1868 was related to statements about serial number dates which I have not been able to confirm. I still feel that this is much later, but have no accurate information, unless anyone on the forum can help.

It is c.1906, by this time the owner of the factory was K.K.Schroeder.
