Collard & Collard Grand Piano

Post by Robby »

Hi, I have been left a Grand Piano to sell for my Great Aunt, It has the name Collard & Collard on the front. There is also the name N. Heins. Hereford, Abergavenny and Brecon, Est 1830'

How do i find out how old it is? The value of it? Are there any numbers stamped on it? if so, where do i look?

Regards

Collard & Collard Grand Piano

Nobody can guess the value or condition without inspecting it and tuning it, but antique grands are very hard to sell at all here in Britain.

If you open the top, and slide out the music desk, then look at the left of the strings, you may find a long number, perhaps 6 digits. Have a look at the information on Collard numbers at
http://pianogen.org/numbers.html

Heins was a retailer, from at least the 1880s to the 1930s. I don't know how seriously we should take the 1830 date.

Are you able to take photos of the whole piano and post them here, or email them to me to post?
