Bush & Lane Chicago Age

Postby cbsongz2002 » Mon Sep 15, 2008 6:37 am

Looking for help in determining the age of my Bush & Lane Chicago piano. The serial number is 22889. As far as I can tell if was probably maufatured around 1903 or somewhere in there.

Thanks for the help,
Carl

The number suggests 1904, I have no other information about Bush & Lane.

I have to ship a Bush & Lane piano serial number 56454 from London to the USA. Because of the ivory keys I have to get a CITES which is no problem but I need to know exactly how many (ivory) white keys there are on a B&L baby grand. Can anybody help please?

If its an 85 note piano (A = top note), there will be 50 ivory keys.
If its an 88 note piano (C = top note), there will be 52 ivory keys.

So it depends on how many keys there are, might be best to state 52, to be on safe side, if not sure.

oh yeh! depending on how "exact" the records need to be, in fact each key has 2 pieces of ivory on it, (tail & head - joined in the middle), so just double either number.

Surely it's simply a matter of counting the white notes?

....... .. and it may also be a simple matter of either contacting the shipping company to count the keys for you, or even contact the seller to count them for you if you have never seen the piano - but most pianos have either 50 or 52 white keys....... sorted!

Unless it's a short keyboard like some baby grands had.
