X-factor 2008

Has anyone been following this?

Bad Lashes voted off last night! :(
They were not the least capable singers in my opinion but I think the song they were given was very lack-lustre to be honest!

I can't get by without my weekly fix of X-Factor. :)

I was sorry to see Bad Lashes go but I felt there wasn't much between them and Girl Band. I probably would've given the other group the heave-ho!

Who's your favourite so far? I'd have a hard time choosing!

I have to say that when I heard them do they Oasis song in the sing off that there was definitely one girl singing flat. I noticed it in the first song but the second one really showed it up!

Personally, I don't think that the pool cleaner is going to last. Louise is dead right about the cruise ship singer comparison!

No, I don't think he's going to make it either. He's a bit... I dunno.... lounge singer. I can't see Girl Band making it too much further either.

I like Eoghan... he's sweet and he's got a lovely voice.

Are they the girl group that are blonde and there are 3 of them? I think I saw them in the auditions I can't remember what they were signing but they were definitely signing it in the wrong key, it sounded flat too.

I wouldn't of let them go though...

Personally I think Laura is going to win! I have a nose for these things!

I have to say though, I was glad that Daniel made it through the sing-off. I think he has some more to show us, but he didn't deserbe to lose to that bratty Scott! He couldn't even pass himself when he lost!

Having said that, I think Daniel's number could come up next week if he is not careful: fix the pitchiness and the niceness that he conveys from time to time, and usually at the wrong time. Despite his great sing-off performance, he reminds me of someone who used to be a great singer, but age and the desire to slow down has mellowed him like he is easing towards a quieter life. He needs to gee up a bit!

Well coming from Northern Ireland too, I'm going to sound like a turn coat, but I don't think he's going to make it to the finals. He moved well and surprised a lot of people but I just don't think that he is versatile enough yet, vocally speaking. Listening to his voice, I'm not sure what he will sound like when his voice finishes breaking - always a bad (and dangerous) time for a guy to try forcing his voice! :(

It depends if there is not too big an overlap. Normally I end up watching it on ITV2 but I tend to stay away from this thread and any new updates until I get to see it!

Austin voted off this week! It's a shame but definitely couldn't compete with Rachel! She did really well. Personally I thought that it would have been down to Eoghan and Daniel. Neither of them were outstanding; Daniel's performance was slightly lack-lusture in places and Eoghan's song seemed to be too big for his little voice to fill at times.

But that's only what I think anyway.........

What a disaster!

Ruth and Laura in the bottom two - and LAURA got voted off by the judges! What were the British public thinking???

Unlike Strictly Come Dancing, X-factor doesn't really have the same number of inferior contestants and there is no way that Daniel, tho better this week, out-performed Laura - absolutely none!

This week's result really peeved me!

Finally! UK back on track with the old voting!
I think Daniel has been biding his time for the past two weeks. Last week was just a lucky escape! Still, I'd be worried if I was Rachel Hylton!

So who's going to win X-factor?

Alexandra, JLS or Eoughan?

I feel Alexandra should win, but the wrong ones get voted off all the time. Ruth should have been in the final!!!

I was furious when Ruth got voted off but I think the probelm with her was that she almost waited a bit too long to come 'into her own' and find her niche. She is fantastic as a rock ballad singer! She vlew me away. Despite being from Northern Ireland myself, I don't feel Eoghan deserves his place in the final. Diane didn't either. Besides trying to vary her singing style, she also needs to do a lot of growing up and maturing before she has the inner strength to cope with all the pressures that accompany celebrity life.

JLS aren't bad, but I think I am a bit old to appreciate them. Perhaps the young girlies will get more from them. I do enjoy a female solo voice.

One thing about JLS that has shone through very clearly is their stylistic inflexibility. Unless they are singing smooth ballads, soul or soft urban songs where their lead singing can riff (an inconvincingly at that!) there isn't much else to say about their repertoire. With the exception of their lead singer, the other three are vocally weak. It's only in the harmonies that their slightly sharp/flat vocal are somehow disguised. They aren't bad, but they'll not win either - that's for sure, but neither will Eoghan! Alexandra has this one, hands down!

I am so pleased, I cried a little bit... ok, buckets!

She is such a lovely girl, looks and personality. I look forward to hearing what she records.
