I know there are Piano Magazines out there because I've searched online; but I wonder how popular they are?

The reason that I ask is because I have 2 large retailers locally that sell hundreds of different subject mags - I kid you not, there were 9 different magazines about Tractors! There were loads of guitar mags, rock mags, pop mags; there was even a magazine for DJs - but not a single keyboard/piano magazine in either shop?

Why do you think this is, and on a different note, which are the BEST piano/keyboard magazines?

I like Pianist magazine because there are tips on playing, free scores and a CD with the pieces on them (played dispiritingly well). There are articles on technique and on pianos themselves, both real and plastic ones. My only moan is that it seems a bit po-faced; there's hardly ever any humour in it and it seems rather stodgy and serious. Piano playing is supposed to be fun, after all...

Interesting you say that because my wife suggested that there were no piano magazines because they were too elitist to be available amongst the 'Celebrity hairstyle weekly' type magazines. I'm not sure that's true, but the piano community can tend to be a tad pompous I guess

I'm a piano newcomer so I was looking for a magazine that is somewhat light, catering for the non-expert pianists as well.

Pianist does exactly that - there are beginner, intermediate and advanced pieces in it, plus a bit of jazz style . It is just
as Mrs Rob says, a bit stuffy.
