Na you don't have to A lot of Americans go on cruise ship and their idea of dressing up is a T shirt with no holds in it. We go with Princes a lot we have just book our 2017 one there will be only 3 formal night but if you don't want to take part you don't have to and a lot of Yanks don't

During formal dinners are lounge suits acceptable or do the men have to wear dinner jackets ? Can the women wear trouser suits ?

lounge suits are acceptable and women can wear what they want on Princes, PO Royal Carb ... there are some cruse lines have smart casual all the time no formal dinners not been on one of them. Some like Cunard only allow DJs in the main dining area at all times. formal dinners are good fun as there tend to be a party and freebys in the Atrium.

This sort of cruse? Is the floor show to try and cheer up a bereaved client and try to get them to 'snap out' of their misery or something with a bit of Billy Joel entertainment??

Let's hope 'We Didn't Start The Fire' doesn't bring back any painful memories of the cremation.

Some of those cruise entertainers are brilliant - I think a few big names started out that way - as well as Jane MacDonald, of course.

The 'famous' piano blogger Melanie Spanswick aka Classical Mel began as a cruise ship pianist.
