Re: Have any technicians had experience with new Estonia gra
He has probably mixed the figures up, the 190 will be more expensive. Anyway, Estonia pianos have gone up in price in the last decade, I remember when I was looking to buy a piano the 168 was about 12k, or something, that was about 5 to 7 years ago. I wanted something bigger although I was impressed...

Sorry, earlier on the O.P. had asked 'if you had 25k plus what would you buy' or something.
Also, referring to a larger model, either a 6'3 or 7'4.
I don't know how much Estonias cost.

You're very lucky and obviously very passionate if you are willing to spend up to 8000. There are so many options for you. I see relatively young Steinway uprights sometimes go for around that price, any new japanese piano, some of the lower end but very good german pianos, perhaps sometimes you can...

I wasn't saying I'd pay for it hehe.... Actually if spending a large amount on a piano, and 24k is a large amount, you want something that should you HAVE to sell, you'll a decent price for it in the future. Re: Have any technicians had experience with new Estonia gra
I would say that every piano from Leverret's has the unique tone. The old Bluthners are beautiful when rebuilt, and of course, they will last, because the plank, soundboard, action and keyboard in most cases is completely new. However, they're not all round pianos, they're not suited to all repertoi...

Re: Knight K10 - what to do?
Well, why don't you keep the piano for yourself, if you are a flautist you probably should have a piano if you ever practise with an accompanist.
The Knight was a decent piano, not in the league of a Yamaha action wise, but tone wise its one of the nicest English pianos around. Very well built too.

Re: Bosendorfer 130CL vintage 1920s model
The thing with any piano of that age is the condition. The Bosendorfer upright is a beautiful piano, but I'm not sure how much they sell for on the second hand market. For instance, a Steinway in good original condition from the 1920s could sell for 2-4k, restrung and reconditioned it could sell for...

Any Yamaha or Roland digital piano from about 1995 onwards with hammer action and at least 64 voice polyphony, although even 32 would be enough since she's probably not going to study piano to degree level. That said, she might, but this is a decent starting point. Sounds like Mark's got something g...

The Grieg was recorded on a 1984 Steinway Model D in the Caird Hall in Dundee, serviced and prepped by Norman Motion. It's a wonderful piano, quite bright but it's a huge hall so it suits the acoustic. The Bach and Mozart were played on my 1912 Bluthner style 8, it's showing its age but actually the...

If I'm being perfectly honest, Yamaha U1s and U3s have always struck me as decent mid range pianos, excellent construction, reliable, decent sound. Never much to write home about. Bostons for me tend to fall into that category but seem a bit more robust. Some Bostons sound sweet, and some sound quit...

Most Knights I've seen have that plaque on the back. I think it's just that it was wood from the same region, the wood of a piano soundboard is obviously thicker than a violin.
The bright sound most probably comes from hard hammer heads which Knight pianos have.

Knight pianos are very well made, sweet sounding pianos. I find the action on them is quite limiting. However, if we're talking about sentimental value, only you can judge that. The retail value of a Knight, reconditioned, from a shop, will be in the region of two thousand pounds. It depends on how ...

A well prepped C3 or RX3 is an excellent piano indeed. In my experience the S series are streets ahead and worth paying for if you can afford it. Pipe organs these days tend to have electric actions which are easy to play. The old tracker actions are a nightmare though! Yamaha are the most consistent and have the best keyboard actions throughout their range. However, I've been quite impressed with some of the new Rolands so I'll keep a look out. I have a Yamaha and I wont upgrade because I don't use it very much so there is no point.
