I know this is a bonkers question, but does anyone know if it's possible to hire a stage piano in Florence, Italy? I'm taking a choir there in February and it would be great NOT to have to cart our own Yamaha P90 and speakers across from the UK.
Any advice gratefully received.

you are supposed to be in school and teaching at around 12:54 p.m Oh don't worry, I was in bloody school alright - I've perfected the art of typing posts in 5 minutes with one hand whilst shovelling a sandwhich/biscuit/coffee in my face with the other in those precious gaps between lessons and rehe...

This thread is not about how much the tone can be changed by voicing - we will leave that for another time Don't worry, I think I'll wait at least another geological age or two before I treat everyone to my thoughts on THAT topic again. I'm a shameless thread-hijacker, I know, but I'm trying to giv...

I once had a sustain pedal that clicked when it was used. Drove me nuts (as the man who went to the doctor with a steering wheel sticking out of his trousers said). My tuner at the time insisted it wasn't happening and I could never be at home when he visited. In the end I just turned the rod round ...

genaa - no worries, I agree with the point you made! God, I cannot get over the fact that a school could have the bare-faced cheek to demand money from visiting music teachers for the privilege of enhancing its teaching and learning provision. How a*se about face can you get? It's just completely wr...

The service you are providing is even better value for the school than the staff they employ for curriculum teaching, Ahem, well, I couldn't possibly agree with that  But, the thing is ,Steph, as has been pointed out here already, YOU are providing THEM with a service and if they don't see it ...

I'm sure it's legal, but SO short-sighted. My SMT are wise enough to realise that freelance instrumental teachers give far more to the school in terms in terms of 'value added' (dreadful phrase, I know) than they take away financially - and this in a school that is far from rich. We try to make visi...

BLOODY HELL, It's just sunk in to me what the original message was getting at. If that's what your finance officer is suggesting, he or she needs to be given a good talking to. You can't charge private teachers for enhancing the school's musical provision - that's completely bonkers. I bet the schoo...

Oh yes, I meant to hire the facilities. If someone is coming in to teach your students, they are adding value both to the school as a whole and more especially to the music department. It would be completely outrageous to charge them for that. Yes, they are earning money for themselves but they are ...

finding a good Yamaha dealer is less easy than first it looks. Once again Piano Guy hits the nail on the head! I stupidly allowed myself to be seduced by full-on advertising. Only myself to blame  DMathew - I'd certainly take the advice from PG et al here and avoid the big discounters. Oh, the...

I got a YUS1 for school last year and it's been nothing but bloody trouble. The sensor rail for the silent system was faulty, meaning that the middle two octaves wouldn't work in silent mode. It took Yamaha 7 months to replace it and now the notes (in silent mode) are sounding unevenly or not at all...

Scuff marks
Can I get scuff/light scratch marks on a black polyester finish Yam C3 sorted out by a general French polisher or would it need a specialist?
It's limited to two small areas, both about the size of a match box which I stupidly failed to notice when it was delivered. Any ball park ideas of cost?

Well, in what is REALLY my last post on the subject (honest) I'll just say that the C7 was an example, and perhaps not the best one to use. I've also had work done on a C3, a U1, and a couple of P something-or-others and I've been very pleased with the results. I don't think I have implied that 'any...

I'd better make this my last contribution (sorry, waffle) on the subject of voicing/toning whatever you want to call it - clearly there are very different views out there. I'm not a technician, I'm a music teacher and pianist and I can speak only from personal experience. I've been lucky enough to h...
