I think you're forgetting about the people who do have the space for a U3, but not the budget for one

I tend to think that's the where the U1 comes in.
Ladies like the U1 because it doesn't dominate the room quite so much
Men like the U3 because of the extra depth and quality of tone

Play with a metronome at a very steady pace. When you can play perfectly every time speed up a bit. Don't speed up until you can play it perfectly

Me and Dad hate using them that's all.
Barrie is right, they are taller with a smaller wheelbase. They do the job but we never complete a move without cursing the trolley if we end up having to use one of those for whatever reason.

Thanks PL I was quite excited when I saw this topic. Sadly I've used those trollies a few time and they are terrible. The piano wants to tip up when you go over the slightest little bump or you hit the smallest pebble. I think the wheelbase is too small. Keep posting anything you find like this tho....

But if their budget wouldn't stretch that far then a 1979 U3 will keep the students happy. I often stock 1979 U3 pianos with a 3 million serial number. That could work well on this occasion as the customer would get the lower price but the higher serial number.

3mil cutoff I would happily have a sub-3mil U3 in my house. Just make sure you visit the piano before buying. There are plenty of sub-3mil U3s with clean, crisp bass sections.
