Re: Introduce yourself!

I just realised I haven't answered the question about the digital. I am afraid my house situation has changed and we have a lodger, so the ability to put on headphones is helpful. I'm hanging on to it for a bit longer, but will let you know when that changes.

Re: Introduce yourself!

The wierd thing is I genuinely hate the sound of every Yamaha piano I've ever played. I played loads when I bought it, way above my price limit. I played a steinway and everything. The pedals are deeply insensitive on my Erard, the highest notes are really thin and weak, but I genuinely like the ton...

Re: Introduce yourself!

Ah yes, both of my neighbours are from brum. They used to come here on holiday and have now decided to live here. I'm a manc myself. Piano is a celviano Ap200, full size and touch sensitive. It was a damaged display model. I paid a carpenter to make it so it was stable and could stand upright and th...

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hi I'm Natalie I joined this forum a while ago when I needed some advice about buying a piano. I now have a reconditioned Erard upright which is my most precious posession in the whole world even though everyone warned me not to buy it and it does have a fair few quirks. I started playing the piano ...

Re: Grade 4 Block

Thanks for the advice Have decided to do a fake grade 4, as I don't find the exam pieces very exciting. Am going to do Gymnopedie 1, Bach's Prelude in C and the ffirst bit of moonlight sonata, but do all the scales bits and pieces for grade 4. I think will be more motivated if I like the pieces and ...

Re: When did you start learning?

I started learning aged 32. I had learned folk guitar as a kid and had classical guitar lessons as an adult but I was always aware that I wasn't that into it. It only occured to me later in life that I could afford a piano. I feel very differently about the piano than the guitar, I know I will never...

Re: Grade 4 Block

Thanks, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I just can't stand repeating one bar over and over again, though I know it is the best way to learn in terms of muscle memory. I'm too impatient to play the whole thing and I hate starting one hand at a time.

Hope your grade three goes well!

Grade 4 Block

Hi I initially joined this forum to seek advice about buying a piano. I am an adult beginner and I made it through my first grades pretty quickly with lots of motivation and regular practice, but since I have started grade 4, I seem to have slowed down and am struggling to motivate myself as everyth...

Re: Erard Upright 96351

Thanks for your advice. I am buying it from a piano tuner who reconditions select pianos. He is giving me a list of the work he has done. I can see all the felts have been replaced. I checked about tuning pegs and he said he did not replace them because they were tight and he said he expected it to ...

Erard Upright 96351

Hi I am just about to purchase an Erard upright with a serial number 96351. Am I right to say that it would have been made in London in about 1910? The piano has been reconditioned. I am nervous about buying an instrument of this age. I am buying my first acoustic piano and I have tried many makes a...
