cracked cast iron plate of grand piano

I lived through an ordeal with a friend who purchased a piano sight unseen on the Internet, invested $10,500, only to receive a piano with a cracked plate.. but it's not completely clear if there was weakness in the plate before it was sent cross country from GA to CA or not. I wrote up the whole ep...

Bach Invention 13 in A minor

This is my favorite among the two part Inventions, and I think one of the more challenging to play.
I usually teach the D minor first, no. 4 ..and will be doing a blog/tutorial on it soon.

Scarlatti, K. 159, in C

I didn't know if I should reply, or just post NEW. I you tubed four Scarlatti sonatas and blogged about them as per challenges, crossed hands, trills..so they are embedded at my blog site, which is growing to a point, I can't easily reference them separately. But on You Tube I can find them quickly ...

Touch weight regulation, vs. adjustments in action

My Steinway M, 1917, overhauled three times in 20 years.. the best work done by Dale Erwin, Modesto, now needs regulation. Dale regulated by touch weight in 1992. He is a bit far to send the piano, and my local tech (RPT) can probably handle it. He wants to take a full day to work on the action with...

Re: When did you start learning?

I started piano lessons when I was 6, but had a year of Music Appreciation in a group setting when I was 5. It was in a quaint town house in the Bronx, NY.

Selim, I am a pianist and teacher, residing in California, who listened/watched your performance. As a Mozart aficionada, I liked your phrasing, very lovely.. and just to point out that your supple wrists, really assisted your singing tone legato. Keep playing and enjoy! I'm glad there's a teaching forum

I just arrived here at the UK forum, and didn't realize there was a specially designated teaching area, so I just introduced myself in another part of the site. Teaching is my passion beside performing, recording and writing and I love to share thoughts, ideas in this universe etc. A few months ago ...

New to Forum and happy to have found it.

I love piano forums because the instrument, its history, repertoire, etc are my passion. And when I stumbled upon the UK connection here, it tied in with my recent writing about the British Knight piano. I remember cruising over this way when doing some preliminary research on it a few years back. I...
