Re: harpsichord help

Morleys have a well stocked showroom with new and second hand instruments but the styling of some of them is not particularly authentic. Your friend could also try the Early Music Shop showroom in Denmark Street, London where more authentic copies are likely to be found. Further north there is only ...

Re: grand piano removal

No-one seems to have questioned the logistics or practicality of getting a grand onto the 4th floor!! It's a heavy beast and no goods lift will be big enough, that's assuming that you have a goods lift. And is the structure man enough for the load? Timber floors? Noise to the neighbours? But good lu...

Re: Piano on death row

Just to check, am I right in assuming that "chopping it up for firewood" implies a timber frame, not an iron one? If so, it might be old enough to be considered a late fortepiano. If not, they've still got to get the iron frame out of the window even if the timber casework is chopped up.

I've always loved the Holberg Suite, can't understand why Grieg gets bad press. Your playing is wonderful Joseph!!

Re: Baby Grand investment?

Looks like the Classic T is very similar to our Conservatoire, and I agree, the sound is wonderful. When we first got it I used to play just random notes with the sustain pedal down, and the general wash of harmonics was just wonderful, and for so long as well. Shame they're closing - is this still ...

Well having had ours for nearly a year now I would say go for the Conservatoire while you can still get one. Beautiful sound and action, and no hinge along the top lid to make vases wobble (my wife said to put in that last bit).

Re: Size of room for Kawai GM 10

I agree with Vernon, in my line of work (house surveys) most conservatories are too hot for comfort from about April to September, particularly if the sun's out, in which case your Kawai would soon be in flat pack form. Does your sun room have a glazed roof or is it just a wall of windows? Does it f...

Re: Best place for spares and accessories

Korg OT-120 is a multi temperament tuner which will sound a reference pitch for each note, cost around £90. I have the older OT-12 model and its absolutely brilliant, much better than the ones with just a needle and a couple of left and right LEDs. Because of the way they pick up pitches, most react...

Re: The New Kemble Chopin

Do your Wm de Blaise's have the orange coloured sharps and a triangular shape which goes the wrong way? Nearly bought one years ago. Only wanted £600 for it aswell.

Acoustic harpsichord V digital ones

Can't see it on their website? Is it new or has it been around for yonks and you've only just seen one?!!! Like me seeing my first 09 car today. Perhaps they will next do a Kemble Bach, with marbled casework and really thin strings so you have to tune it each time you play. Maybe not..... Question: ...

We've got 2 Skodas and a Kemble Conservatoire so I suppose we are not classy. But all three are magnificent creations.

Is it a cabinet upright - about 6ft tall? If so, we have one dated around 1845 with loads of rosewood and original looking cloth on the upper panel. Sounds ropey but then its not been tuned for many years.

Lovely sound and excellent playing!

Two questions:

1. What are the pieces/composers?

2. Looks like you may have a tiled floor. Did you have to alter the sound with rugs, etc?

Thanks again,

First post so Hi to everyone. I had to reply to this as we were in a similar position a few weeks ago, and ended up getting a Kemble Conservatoire which I presume is the same as the 124 you mention as it's 124cm high. The sound is just glorious and I cannot fault it in any way. The Mozart is in a 12...
