I remember having the Muppet Show album on vinyl when I was a kid and we had an album of childrens stories I think too. :D

The first casette album I bought was the Simpsons Sing the Blues and the first CD album was Celine Dion. Hehehe

Hi Joyce,

I would recommend that you contact the shipper or the US government to find out what documentation they will accept to prove the age.

Cheers,

Hi... at last something on the history thread that I can help with! This quote is from the CBP.gov website: "You may import an object made of ivory if it is an antique. To be an antique the ivory must be at least 100 years old. You will need documentation that authenticates the age of the ivory...

Hi Martin! I'm 30, so not too much older than you and I started to learn just three short weeks ago. I'd wanted to learn since High School so I got an early (VERY early) Christmas present from my husband a few weeks ago - A Yahama personal piano (fondly referred to as 'stinky digital', but loved non...

Good advice there, Nutroast! It is your time and money and if you don't click with your tutor they probably find the relationship just a tough from their side too.

You'll find someone that's perfect eventually, Moonlight!

I found my piano tutor right here on UK Piano! :D She charges £9 for a half hour, or £15 for an hour (I think that was it anyway... I find half an hour is enough!) and I really like her! I can't remember her qualifications off the top of my head, but I find her very patient and s...

Lordy, I wish I could home a real piano, upright or otherwise! But unless I tear my newly decorated house apart I would have to play in the hall but then I wouldn't be able to get out of the door and the tuner wouldn't be able to get in. Not ideal. :? I was sorry to see Bad Lashes go but I felt there wasn't much between them and Girl Band. I probably would've given the other group the heave-ho!

Who's your favourite so far? I'd have a hard time choosing!

Does the Bridgewater Hall have an organ like there is in Symphony Hall/the Town Hall in Birmingham, Kat? Blimey, has it ever - the organ is probably not far off the size of the IMAX screen! Forsyth's is great and always seems busy when I've passed by. It looks like such a small old fashioned shop from the outside but it's massive inside. When you're up this way, Dave, you'll have to check out the Bridgewater Hall programme and see if the Halle or the BBC Phil are playing. I took my Mum...

Very odd, Dave. Maybe there is a tear in the space-time continuum around Manchester or Brum-land? :P If the mrs can count in time but not clap or tap in time, that seems to indicate an issue of co-ordination rather than no sense of rhythm. I would say it's probably just a case of lots of rhythm prac...

I can comfortably manage an octave but only one or two notes beyond that really hurts my hands. I have the added disadvantage that I have a tremor so because I haven't been playing long my fingers sometimes do strange things I don't tell them to do, or don't do things I do tell them to do! LOL!

That's a shame, Mark. I was an IT trainer in my last job and consider, when someone isn't very good at something, that it's simply an area for improvement, not something they 'just can't do'. Sure, some people will find certain skills easier to pick up than others, but that's no excuse for a tutor (...

Hi Moonlight (and all!)
