Hi all I have not been on much recently but have been lurking! Still playing and now working towards grade 6 Trinity. Although I have 3 pieces we would like to look at a fourth but my teacher does not have the book and it costs over £20! This is where my plea to you comes in..... Does anyone have a ...

Re: Used Schimmel Grand

The Schimmel is a beautiful piano - it suits my ears very well! It has settled in well and sounds even more beautiful now. You could say I love it!

Grade 5 under my belt!

As it says in the title really! :D Took the exam on Friday and found out today that I have passed - Trinity Guildhall board. 2 marks short of a merit, and I feel a bit miffed about where some marks were lost and indeed some of the comments seem a little out of sorts with how I feel I performed. :? B...

Hi Kebber82

No you haven't left it too late - I started when I turned 40, again something I always wanted to do. I am now grade 5.

Go for it (sorry can't help with teacher info as I'm down south)

Hi Michael My programme is A/ Kabalevsky Sonatina op.27 no 18 (from the TG book) Kuhlau Sonatina op55 no 1: 3rd movement B/ Camilleri Cantilena (from the TG book) So, if I have to retake grade 5 for any reason (most likely because my fingers turn to jelly in the exam!) I'll need to learn 2 new piece...

Hi Michael,

I should hopefully have left grade 5 behind after March - but you never know, I might be working from that syllabus if things don't go to plan!

Good Luck

Castor cups

Hi,
Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

I would like to buy some castor cups for my new(ish) grand piano, but I am not sure what size I need. The piano is a Schimmel Konzert 169 and it is on carpet.

Thanks
Caroline

I decided that for the sake of a few thousand pounds, I preferred to buy locally so as to have the backing of the local dealer/specialist. I also couldn't spare the time to travel to play the piano (I know they all play differently). So. I am now the proud owner of a new Schimmel Konzert 169T grand ...

Used Schimmel Grand

A while ago I posted about Schimmel vs Steinway. I am still looking - off to Steinway's Sale in London on Friday. I also have an option on a Schimmel 169T from a local dealer for around 18k pounds. I have played a couple of Steinways - one new and one reconditioned and wasn't that comfortable with e...

Thanks piano guy for your reply. The piano in question is definately a NY model as the provenence is known, and it has angular cheeks.

I must admit, I would prefer a Hamburg model.

Another conundrum

Now I'm playing at level 5, I am looking to replace my Broadwood baby grand. I have narrowed down my search so far to a secondhand Steinway model M of approx 1980 vintage (previously owned by a concert pianist for practice at home) or a new Schimmel Konzert grand 189T both for similar money What wou...
