 Ken McCarthy Wedding Pianist / Bucks / Berkshire / Herts / London / Oxfordshire / Surrey / Sussex A very high profile and professional Wedding / Cocktail pianist, jazz pianist and accompanist, fully experienced in show business and the classical music world. Ken is one of the more "mature" pianists and well known in the entertainment industry (so he knows all the tunes!). He performs at weddings and cocktail pianist events not just locally but throughout London and the south-east, alongside his West End and touring work, and you can gain an impression of the standard of his playing by the stars he has performed alongside. Ken was both piano player and musical director for the big West End shows - "Bubbling Brown Sugar","Evita", "42nd St.", "Some Like It Hot", "Joseph - - -" and others. Over the years, he's also worked the clubs and theatres, being "on the road" with firstly Frankie Vaughan, then Roy Castle for years. becoming pianist with Dame Vera Lynn during her last few singing years, performing in many countries for royal occasions. Much of his work has taken him on major cruise ships - QE2, Oriana, Arcadia, Royal Caribbean and other American lines - where a high musical standard is always required. More recently, Trio Fantasia with its mixture of classics and jazz is gaining national recognition and is a showcase for Ken's brilliant piano technique. ------------------------------------------------------ Ken's comments: Of course, there are many styles in piano playing and I have a personal leaning to light jazz (Sinatra / Ella music) though classical music is also in my background, which is particularly useful for weddings. I also suggest my trio for background music during reception possibly with a girl vocalist. I carry a Yamaha P90 keyboard should there not be a piano in your venue - this is tailored by myself to sound exactly like a normal instrument and I love to play it! Thank you Ken We hired Ken for our wedding in Oct 2010. He played during the ceremony, through the drinks during photographs and during the wedding breakfast. He learned some special music as a surprise for my wife (from twilight) as well.Everyone was blown away... |
