Praised by reviewer for her 'Mature, assured performance of Elegance and Power' (Capital Times), New Zealand pianist Beth Chen has gained wide audiences with her imaginative and lyrical playing. She has performed in New Zealand, Australia, Germany, France, Italy and the United Kingdom.
Beth Chen is the laureate of numerous awards both in New Zealand and abroad. She was named 1st prize at the Christchurch National Concerto Competition , Winner of Victoria University Concerto Competition, 'Most Promising Pianist' Award at the Kapiti Coast National Piano Competition and Winner of North Queensland Piano and Instrumental Concerto Competition in Australia. She has appeared as a soloist with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, Victoria University Orchestra, Wellington Chamber Orchestra and Neues Telemann Kammerorchester.
Beth has extensive accompanying experience with instrumentalists and singers in concerts, competitions, workshops and exams. She has worked as an accompanying and chamber music tutor at Victoria Academy (Victoria University, NZ)
After teaching and performing in Germany for 5 years, Beth moved to the UK in September 2009 and is now a London-based pianist, accompanist and teacher.
