Karen Newby G.T.C.L., L.T.C.L.

I studied piano with John Bingham at Trinity College of Music, and with Norman Beedie at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
I also studied accompaniment with David Newbold at Trinity College.

As a freelance accompanist I have worked with a wide range of soloists
including :

Randall Cooper (tenor) (www.randall-cooper.de)

Pam Hart (soprano)

Martin Speake (alto saxophone)

Ivo Stankov (violin)

Moira Hartley(cello)

Nicole Muehle (soprano)

Danielle Hartley (bassoon)

I am a member of the Rákóczi Duo with tarogato player Marc Naylor
(www.britishtarogatoassociation.org.uk)

In a recent review, the duo was hailed as 'undoubtedly the most exciting
new duo to hit the British musical scene in a long time' (Clarinet and
Saxophone Magazine)

I was pianist for performances at the Maddermarket Theatre in Norwich
of the chamber operas 'The Bear' by William Walton, and 'A Dinner Engagement' by Lennox Berkeley

I have excellent sight reading skills, and have played on several occasions
for auditions at London music colleges; also for diploma examinations on instruments including trumpet, clarinet, bassoon, violin, saxophone, voice and cello.
