Geoffrey TantiMMus (Distinction) PG dip (solo Piano - Distinction)
Geoffrey Tanti was born in Malta where he studied piano with Cynthia Turner. In 2007, he was awarded a bursary by the Strickland Foundation in Malta to study at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama under the tutelage of Jonathan Plowright. In June 2008 he obtained a Post Graduate Diploma with Distinction, and was awarded the Janatha Stubbs scholarship to continue with his studies on the Master in Music course which he graduated from with Distinction. He was later given a Fellowship in piano accompaniment to accompany students at the RSAMD. In the past three years, during his stay at the academy, Geoffrey has had many performing opportunities including a performance of the Poulenc piano concerto with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the Jolivet concertino for trumpet, piano and strings with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. He has also won the Hester Dickson Prize for Best Accompanist in the Lieder Competition, the Alex Menzies Memorial Fund and the Philip Halstead prize for piano. Geoffrey is currently continuing his studies at the academy as a repetiteur within the Alexander Gibson Opera Studio. He is the resident accompanist of various choirs in Scotland and he also works as a teacher and a freelance accompanist.
